They know that they want to do something to make money that also, makes them happy to do. Great. Now, the next step is to figure out HOW do we get there? One way to prepare for the great big world beyond high school is to begin collecting tools that we will need to get started. You will find this unit incredibly helpful whether be now, or ten months from now because this is the most important topic that we can develop: You.

Cover Letter: A cover letter serves as a cover page for your resume. Often, a resume does not allow the employer to appreciate the work ethic and outstanding qualities that the individual may have. The cover letter allows the employer to appreciate the writing skills, the enthusiasm, and the persuasive ability of the prospective employee. The cover letter must contain contact information, a date, formal writing voice, and should be written neatly within one page. You must also have the letter properly addressed, dated, and signed. At this point in your career, the enthusiasm in your cover letter may win you the job.

Interview: After you have passed the preliminary screening of applications, your employer will invite you to interview personally. While the questions are easy to predict, most people do not have a tremendous amount of experience conducting a professional discussion with a superior. You will be provided a list of interview questions to prepare for a 5-10 minute interview. These are the usual questions that an employer will ask and you need to come prepared with good answers. Answer these questions in a way that demonstrate that you are positive, enthusiastic, eager to learn, and while respectful for all people, you are especially respectful to your boss. And yes, type your answers…always.
